POC determines if the miscarriage was produced by a chromosomal abnormality.

50% of first trimester pregnancy losses are due to chromosomal abnormalities

This increases to 60% in women undergoing assisted reproduction treatment.

Results in 10 working days.

Overview

Unfortunately, 25% of clinical pregnancies miscarry, with pregnancy losses in the first trimester of pregnancy being particularly common. Of these, 50% are caused by chromosomal abnormalities and this increases to >60% in women undergoing assisted reproduction treatment.

All fetal cells must have two copies of each chromosome, one from the mother’s egg and one from the father’s sperm, in total, each cell should contain 46 chromosomes made up of 23 pairs. Chromosomal abnormalities, caused by an incorrect number of chromosomes, can result in miscarriage.

Who should use POC?

  • Couples who have suffered a pregnancy loss
  • Especially those who have experienced recurrent miscarriages
  • Couples undergoing assisted reproduction treatment, to provide useful information for future treatment
  • Previously identified severe male factor infertility.

What is POC?

The POC test by Igenomix is an advanced analysis of fetal tissue using NGS technology that screens all 24 chromosomes to determine if the miscarriage was caused by a chromosomal abnormality.

Features
  • Benefits
  • Reliability: Results are obtained in 99% of cases, versus 58% in conventional tests.
  • Speed: Results in 10 working days, versus 1 month for conventional tests.
  • Rules out maternal contamination: A blood sample from mother verifies that the analyzed material is fetal origin.

The POC test provides genetic information that enables appropriate reproductive counseling to help you plan any future pregnancies.
