Carrier Screening - cgt sync

In partnership with

Sperm donors from Seattle Sperm Bank are extensively screened for hundreds of genetic conditions. If you have selected a donor who is a carrier of one or more conditions, you may wish to know whether you are a carrier of the same condition(s). Carrier Genetic Testing (CGT) SYNC is able to answer this question, by providing an in-depth analysis of the relevant gene(s) in you.

Please fill in the form below if you are interested in finding out more about CGT SYNC, and a member of our team will get back to you.

CGT SYNC is our unique solution when one person in a reproductive couple is a known carrier of a condition – e.g. a sperm donor is known to be a carrier.

CGT SYNC provides bespoke analysis of these ‘genes of interest’ using our highest detection rate platform. Optional analysis of X-linked genes is available for female patients.

CGT SYNC FAQs

How is the test performed?

Testing is performed on a blood sample, which you can have taken at a local Superdrug Health Clinic.

How long does it take to get the results?

Once we have received your sample in the laboratory, testing takes around 25 working days.

Can I have genetic counselling?

Pre- and post-test genetic counselling is included in the price of the test.

What happens if I am found to be a carrier of the same condition as my preferred donor?

If you and the donor are carriers of the same condition, there would be a 1 in 4 (25%) chance that a child would be affected with the condition, if you choose to proceed with that particular donor.

For this reason, you may opt to select an alternative donor. There may be other options depending on the available services and policies of your clinic, and your genetic counsellor can discuss these with you.
